She was born in Venezuela, but she conquered Mexico and the rest of Latin America with her acting role in" La Usurpadora ", the successful soap opera produced by the studios of Televisa. In this fiction, Gabriela Spanic loves, cries, suffers and laughs twice as much, since she interprets two personages.
Gabriela Spanic is known as La Usurpadora, a controversial woman, wanted by many and attacked by others. But in which all agree it is her beauty: they watch her and they adore her.
Her soap opera became one of the favourites of the public, since her personages are totally different from which the public is used to see on the tv screen. For Gabriela, to have so many television sets on at the same moment her soap opera is transmitted, it means team work, mutual understanding with her companions, an excellent production and the pen of Carlos Romero, the author. "This history taught to me to take risks, to overcome fears and to acquire more confidence... it has made me stronger; also I have learned a lot from the other actors in the telenovela", she confesses.
This Venezuelan actress also says that the Mexicans are very educated people and that the rejection to be a foreigner she felt it from only a few people because almost all agreed to her participation in the telenovela.
One of the greatest challenges for her was the accent: "To change my tone of voice was difficult for me because they asked me only a day before. Luckily I assimilated new techniques and I kept moving ahead. Now that I finished recording I even work with a teacher to better myself".
As we all know, Gabriela played two roles in the tenovela: Paola and Paulina. "These personages I did not develop them alone. The directors had to be very patient with me because I am quite obstinate and there were things that I did not like. But I followed the advice of everybody and now I know the roles very well. I believe that the best thing is to be able to get to know yourself. When I transformed myself as Paola, I got out my bad side and when I was Paulina I resorted to my tender and ingenuous side. At first I hated Paola. She made me want to slap her or to ring her neck. However, Paulina was very good and often she made me cry. But no, I do not have anything of any of the two, I only lent them my face and my body, nothing else. I am a patient, a sensible and a perfectionist woman. But when they touch sensible sides of me, I explode ".
Gabriela is a person who is very peaceful: " I like to read metaphysics books and with my husband we have our times of meditation to sensitize ourselves more, not to let the material surpass the spiritual, and not allow people to hurt us. People accuse me of being unpleasant because they greet me and I do not respond. But what happens is that when I walk I am in my own little world and I am not pending of the others. But I always am Gabriela and do not try to be someone I am not".
" What I would love is to have more time for my marriage -- she confesses --, It is so difficult to combine this pace of life with the life of a married couple! Only at night can we speak openly. As much he as I have learned to surpass many difficult situations. Now that we are far from our families the relation is more stable, because we only depend one on the other. The confidence lets you grow as a couple".
